Men's Golf: NAIA National Championships Day 1 Recap
SILVIS. Ill. - Landon True led the Indiana University East men's golf team as the Red Wolves opened the NAIA National Championships on Tuesday, May 12.
True carded a 75 for IU East as he tied for 68th on the individual leaderboard at TPC Deere Run.
Sam Firebaugh and Dare Bowles were next for the Red Wolves as they both finished with 77 to tie for 98th.
Nick Brubaker and Noah Mulford also were tied at 140th as each recorded an 81.
Appearing in the national tournament for the first time as a team, the Red Wolves are 27th out of 29 squads with a score of 310 heading into the second round on Wednesday. There will be a cut for the teams and individuals to determine advancement to final two rounds on Thursday and Friday.
The tee times for the second round for IU East will get underway with Brubaker on No. 10 (9:10 a.m.) followed by Bowles (9:20 a.m.), True (9:30 a.m.), Mulford (9:40 a.m.) and Firebaugh (9:50 a.m.).
The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma leads the 29-team field with a total of 281 as Drover teammates Jaeden Ellis and Jaxen Brewer are part of a four-way tie at the top of the individual leaderboard with 68. Carter Ray of Oklahoma City University and Owen Croft of the University of British Columbia are the other two in the top position.
