Tennis: IU East at Oakland City Preview

RICHMOND, Ind. - Indiana University East tennis teams open play in the River States Conference as the Red Wolves go on the road to play Oakland City University on Sunday, March 26. 

The contests get underway at 3 p.m. (IU East time).

Both IU East teams are 2-3 overall after a trip to South Carolina on March 13-14.

The Oakland City men have a 14-3 mark, while the Mighty Oaks are 1-0 in the conference.

Oakland City's women are 7-9 with an 1-0 record in the league.

In both conference pre-season polls, the Mighty Oaks were ranked in the top spot, while the Red Wolves were second.

Oakland City's tennis courts are located on campus with a GPS address of 138 North Lucretia Street in Oakland City, Ind.

The courts are located at the intersection of Williams Street and North 3rd Street next to the baseball field.

* IU East's men defeated Oakland City 4-3 last spring, while the women's team beat the Mighty Oaks 6-1.

* During the visit to Hilton Head Island for the Professional Tennis Registry Spring Tennis Fest, the men fell to

West Virginia State University (4-3) and Asbury University (9-0).

* On the women's side, Georgetown College (4-3) and St. Francis University (Pa.) (5-2) defeated the Red Wolves.

* Francisco Faundez, Sebastian Torrealba and Matthew Nel each posted victories for the men in South Carolina, while Linda Marino, Eva Caballero and Amonette Theron won contests for the women's team.
