Tennis Downed by Shawnee State in Conference Openers

PENDLETON, Ind. – The men's and women's tennis teams kicked off RSC play on Sunday as they hosted Shawnee State at the Community Sports and Wellness Center.

 

The Bears defeated the Red Wolves in both matches, 4-3 in the men's and 5-2 in the women's.

 

In the men's match, the Red Wolves were able to take three singles matches. Kyle Hollingsworth won 6-4, 7-5 at No. 1 Singles. Sachin Vanaraja won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 Singles. Clay Conner finished out the singles wins with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 5 Singles.

Hollingsworth and Wilkerson also won their No. 1 Doubles match 6-2.

 

On the women's side, Chantelle Mapondera won her first ever singles match for the Red Wolves, 7-5, 6-2 at No. 2 Singles. Gracie Helms also earned a set win at No. 3 Singles, winning 6-0, 6-0.

 

The Red Wolves will travel to Concordia University-Chicago on Friday for their next match.
