Indoor Track: IU East at Grand Valley State Preview

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East indoor track and field teams will be competing in a two-day event in Michigan this weekend at Grand Valley State University.

The GVSU Big Meet-Friday starts on the track at 8:30 a.m., while the field events begin at noon. The GVSU Big Meet-Saturday gets underway at 10 a.m.

Over 1,000 athletes are expected for the affair inside the Kelly Family Sports Center from college programs as well as clubs along with unattached participants.

The Kelly Family Sports Center is located on the GVSU campus at 10945 Laker Village Dr, Allendale, MI 49401.

* This is the last meet before the Red Wolves compete in the River States Conference Indoor Championships at Marietta College on Feb 20-21.

* IU East runners set two new school records last weekend at the Indiana Wesleyan University Midwest Classic.

* Emily Fleming, Mackenzie Rohde, Mylee Shatto and Kayci Hill finished fifth in the women's distance medley relay with a record time of 12:36.39.

* Chloe Scales established a new IU East standard in the women's 5,000 meters at 18:48.24 to finish in fifth. Samantha Fowler also surpassed the old record in the event as she was seventh in 19:04.56.
