Track & Field: Hilltopper Relays Day 1 Recap

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The Indiana University East outdoor track and field teams opened the Hilltopper Relays at Western Kentucky University on March 31.

Weather conditions limited some of the action on the opening day at the Charles M. Ruter Track.

IU East's Ty'Shaun Williams, who is the most recent River States Conference Field Athlete of the Week, finished third in the shot put (14.05 meters) behind Belmont University's Jackson Grant (15.57) and Western Kentucky's Kaison Barton (15.25)

Other Red Wolves in the top 10 were Kyler Shultz (ninth in shot put, 12.69 meters) and Sam Houck (10th in hammer, 43.29 meters).

Madelynn Ward set an IU East freshman record with a distance of 38.08 meters in the women's hammer as she was 12th.

Saturday's activity begins with field events at 10 a.m. (IU East time). Races on the track are scheduled for 1 p.m.
