Track & Field: Little State Preview
RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East track and field teams are headed to the 116th annual Little State Championships on April 20-21.
Indiana Wesleyan University is the host for the two-day event in Marion that includes schools from multiple college divisions.
Thursday's action features the majority of the field events. The Hammer and Discus get underway at 2 p.m. The Long and Triple Jumps along with the High Jump and Pole Vault start at 4 p.m.
On the track, the 400-Meter Relay begins at 6:30 p.m. The other running events on the opening day are the 3,200-Meter Relay, 100-Meter Hurdles, 110-Meter Hurdles and the 100 Meters.
The Racewalk opens the meet on Friday at 2:15 p.m. The remaining track events start at 3 p.m. The Shot Put and Javelin are scheduled for 4 p.m.

YOU OUGHT TO KNOW
* This is the final meet for IU East before the Red Wolves compete in the River States Conference Championships at the University of Rio Grande on April 29-30.
* Rex Kirchenstien and Ty'Shaun Williams both reached NAIA National Qualifying Standard for the Red Wolves last week. Indiana Wesleyan is the host of the NAIA National Championships on May 24-26.
* Kirchenstien had an IU East school record 5,629 points in the Decathlon in the Gibson Invitational at Indiana State University on Friday, April 14.
* Williams set a new school record in the shot put with a distance of 15.75 meters, which put him in second place in a field of 21 competitors at the Cherry Blossom Invitational at Ohio University on Saturday, April 15. He set an IU East record throw of 46.38 meters in the Discus to finish sixth.
* On the women's side at the Cherry Blossom Invitational, Izzy King was sixth in the Javelin with a throw of 31.56 meters.
* Brooke Sudhoff and Vanessa Temple tied for eighth in the pole vault with 2.75 meters.
