Track & Field: RSC Championships Preview
RICMOND, Ind. - Indiana University East has nine athletes seeded in the top three of their respective events as the Red Wolves are ready to compete in the 2023 River States Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the University of Rio Grande on April 28-29.
Ty'Shaun Williams is the top seed in the Shot Put and Discus, while Mylan Nocton is No. 1 in the 5,000 meters with Cameron Nocton leads the way in the Racewalk.
The field events at the Stockmeister Track & Field complex open the two-day affair on Friday at 1 p.m. Track events get underway with the 3,200-Meter Relay at 2 p.m.
On Saturday, field events are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. The running events start at noon.
Point Park University won both team championships last spring, while IU East was fifth of the 12 squads on the men's side with the women finishing eighth.

The meet features 12 schools from the conference.
Stockmeister Track & Field Complex is on the Rio Grande campus, which is located at 218 N College Ave, Rio Grande, OH 45674.

YOU OUGHT TO KNOW
* The top three finishers in each event earn all-conference recognition, while the top eight score.
* IU East's Chance Klipstine is the defending champion in the 800 meters. A NAIA National Championships qualifier last season, Klipstine is seeded fourth in the event this year.
* Williams, Cameron Nocton and Rex Kirchenstien (Decathlon) have each qualified for the national meet at Indiana Wesleyan University on May 24-26. Kirchenstien is seeded third in the High Jump. This meet does not have the Decathlon or the Heptathlon.
* Tucker Burris is seeded second in the 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters.
* Teagen Rodriguez (1,500 meters) and Richard Bower (3,000-meter Steeplechase) are both in the second spot in their events.
* Savannah Hart (10,000 meters) and Danielle Ruhl (Hammer) are third seeds for the IU East women's squad.
