Track & Field: RSC Championships Day 1 Recap

RIO GRANDE, Ohio - The Indiana University East track and field teams had a pair of champions as the Red Wolves competed on the opening day of the River States Conference Championships on Friday, April 28.

Cameron Nocton won the 5,000-meter Racewalk (26:01.44) before his twin brother Mylan Nocton capped the day with a victory in the 10,000 meters (32:09.82).

By finishing in the top three, a relay squad and three individuals earned all-conference honors.

The 3,200-meter relay squad of Teagen Rodriguez, DeAndre Hall, Erick Gallardo Cortes and Chance Klipstine began the day on the track by finishing second with a school record with a time of 8:01.94.

Richard Bower was second in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase (10:02.10). Tucker Burris was third in the 5,000 meters (33:16.09). Danielle Ruhl led the women's team as she was third in the Hammer (40.28 meters).

The IU East men are in second place out of 10 teams, while the Red Wolves are sixth of 11 in the women's meet. Point Park University is on top in both events.

The two-day event concludes on Saturday with the field events beginning with the shot put and discus at 11 a.m. The action on the track starts with the 400-meter relay at noon.
