Nocton Becomes an All-American for the Red Wolves

MARION, Ind. - Cameron Nocton, All-American.

Nocton headlined the performance by the Indiana University East men's track team at the NAIA National Outdoor Championships on Thursday, May 25.

"He was big-time," IU East coach Cam Tiberg said. "He's our first distance guy to be an All-American in track."

Finishing seventh in the 5,000-Meter Racewalk, Nocton posted a school record time of 24:11.11 on the Indiana Wesleyan University track to earn the honor.

This was the third national event during Nocton's first year with the Red Wolves. He was part of the IU East cross country team that won the River States Conference to advance last fall, while he also participated in the indoor nationals earlier this year.

Rex Kirchenstien and Ty'Shaun Williams also compted for the Red Wolves on Thursday.

Kirchenstien finished 13th in the Decathlon with a school record of 6,096 points. He set the old standard of 6,088 at the Mt. Olive Last Chance event on May 12. His top effort of the second day of the event was finishing fifth in the Discus with a toss of 34.88 meters.

Williams competed in the Discus and was 28th overall with a distance of 41.24 meters.

On Friday, Williams will finish the three-day affair for the Red Wolves in the shot put that gets underway at 3 p.m.
