Outdoor Track: IU East Little State Preview
RICHMOND, Ind. - Indiana University East's track and field teams are set to compete at the 121st Little State Championships this weekend at Indiana Wesleyan University.
There is a limited schedule at the Wildcat Track on Friday, April 17. The hammer begins the activity at 10 a.m. The javelin and triple jump follows at 2 p.m. Races on the track get underway with the 3,200-meter relay at 4:30 p.m. Other track events are the 5,000-meter run, 10,000-meter run and the race walk.
On Saturday, the field events begin at 10 a.m. At the same time, the 3,000-meter steeplechase is the first race on the track.

Spectators can purchase tickets in advance here or at the gate by card or mobile pay only.

YOU OUGHT TO KNOW
* The meet now known as the Little State Championships started in 1905.
* IU East's women finished second of nine teams, while the men were fifth at the Asbury University Chick-Fil-A Invitational on Friday, April 10.
* Emilee Earl set IU East women's records in winning the pole vault (3.35 meters) and discus (40.90) at Asbury.
* Tristan Thomas also had a school record in the men's 100 meters winning with a time of 10.67 seconds.
* Layne Beard was also a winner in the men's hammer at 45.65 meters.
* The Red Wolves will have one more meet at Wilmington College on April 18 before heading to the River States Conference Outdoor Championships at the University of Rio Grande on May 1-2.
* The NAIA National Outdoor Championships are scheduled for May 20-22 in Ashville, N.C.
