Women's Basketball: Farris Recognized by WBCA

RICHMOND, Ind. - Indiana University East's Taylor Farris earned some national recognition as the Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced its awards for the 2025-26 season.

Farris was on the WBCA All-American Honorable Mention List with 16 other players.

"Taylor was very deserving of this honor," IU East coach Shawn Chaffin said. "It is very difficult to make this highly selective team."

This season, Farris topped the Red Wolves in scoring at 18.3 points per game to go with 6.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists.

"Taylor not only led us in scoring, but also in rebounding, assists, steals and blocked shots," Chaffin said. "Taylor also made her teammates better each day by pushing them to be better."

Farris was named to the All-River States Conference First Team back in February.

"Being honored is just a testament to how hard I've worked in my basketball career," Farris said. "Not many people get the opportunity to say that they've accomplished so much in their careers. I'm extremely grateful that IU East gave me a platform to reach this achievement along with a few others."

Finishing her career with the Red Wolves with 1,330 points, Farris is fifth on IU East's all-time scoring list for women's basketball.

"Without my family, mentors, coaches and teammates along the way, none of this would've been possible," Farris said. "I'm beyond proud of myself and grateful to everyone that has supported me throughout my basketball journey."

Set to graduate at the end of this year, Farris is a Business Administration major with a minor in Sports Management and Marketing.
