Women's Golf: RSC Championships Day 2 Recap
FLORENCE, Ind. - The Indiana University East women's golf team is just three strokes off the lead with one day remaining at the River States Conference Championships.
The Red Wolves are in second place after two rounds of the three-day event at the Belterra Resort posting a team score of 343-343-686 on April 24.
"Really proud of how our team competed on this cool and breezy day," IU East coach Billy Mullin said.
IU Kokomo is leading the field with a 351-332-683, while Midway University is third at 349-342-691.
Liv Sanders tops the Red Wolves with a 78-85-163, which puts her in third place individually.
Katie Craig is fifth overall with an 85-83-168.
"I played pretty well today the wind was changing directions all day, so that made it difficult," Craig said. "My putting was great today, and I made a lot of good putts. I'm proud of the team and can't wait to see what happens tomorrow."
Jalyn Bruns is tied for 10th at 86-88-174.
"Overall, I would say I hit the ball pretty well," Bruns said. "My putting and chipping were much better today. After having a bad hole with a lost ball and two penalty strokes on No. 17, I was able to bounce back with a birdie on the last hole. I think we are all ready to play hard tomorrow to gain back the strokes that we left on the course today."
Brooklynn Cromwell is 21st with a 95-87-174. Annie Gillock is 29th at 94-98-192.
"Katie's determination and tenaciousness shined through on this day," Mullin said. "Very strong finish by Katie, Liv, Brooklynn and Jalyn held tough on a difficult day. We been here before, we look forward to tomorrow."
The final round tee times for IU East on Tuesday are Gillock (10:20 a.m.), Cromwell (10:30 a.m.), Bruns (10:40 a.m.), Craig (10:50 a.m.) and Sanders (11 a.m.).
