Women's Golf: Forest Hills Invitational Day 1 Recap
RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East women's golf team finished the opening day of the Forest Hills Fall Invitational in second place on Saturday, Sept. 16.
Mount St. Joseph University leads the way with a 342 followed by IU East (344), Spalding University (355), IU East B (377) and Anderson University (397).
Liv Sanders led the Red Wolves with an 85, which has her in fourth on the leaderboard.
"Not the numbers we were looking for, but we are hanging in there with the rest of the field," Sanders said. "My putting was really good today and the rest of my game not so much. The course is very dry at the moment. We're hoping to make a move tomorrow as a team."
Others scores for IU East were Sophia Curry 86 (T6th), Lainey Jackson 86 (T6th), Brooklynn Cromwell 87 (9th) and Katie Craig 92 (12th).
IU East's second squad was topped by Jalyn Bruns with an 86 (T6th).
"I struck the ball pretty good today,' Bruns said. "However, the fast greens made putting pretty difficult. It was a beautiful day for golf on a challenging course. I think everyone left some shots out there around the greens, so there is no doubt we all will improve tomorrow."
Also on the second squad were Josalyn Lewis 93 (T13th), Baylee Wissler 97 (23rd), Gracie Williams 101 (T25th) and Ashlynne Osborne 105 (T27th).
