Women's Golf: IU East Wins IUK Spring Shootout

KOKOMO, Ind. - The Indiana University East women's golf team maintained its opening round advantage as the Red Wolves won the IU Kokomo Spring Shootout on Sunday, April 19.

The Red Wolves finished with a team score of 322-323-645 as Oakland City University was second at 339-324-663. IU Kokomo (332-338-670) was third followed by Heidelberg University (343-331-674), IU Southeast (375-375-750) and the University of Rio Grande (389-376-765).

Maddie Campbell (73-81-154) was second on the individual leaderboard at the Wildcat Creek Golf Course as Peityn Gillman (84-77-161) finished fifth with both making the all-tournament team.

"Overall, I was pretty happy with how I played today," Gillman said. "The greens were rolling fast which made them tricky, but I was able to get a few good putts to drop. I also had some good approach shots that kept me in it."

Jalyn Bruns (82-84-166, T8th) and Sophia Curry (86-81-167, T10th) were also in the top 10 for IU East.

"I think we stayed resilient through tough conditions and posted some competitive scores," Curry said. "I'm very proud of the team and myself for battling on every shot."

The other scores for the Red Wolves were Ashlynne Osborne (85-84-169, 13th), Reagan Brewer (83-89-172, T15th), Lainey Jackson (90-83-173, T18th) and Lauren Lacey (92-89-181, 26th).

Next up for IU East will be the Forest Hills Collegiate hosted by the Red Wolves on April 24-25.
