Women's Golf: IU East Leads Forest Hills Invitational After First Round

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East women's golf team finished in the top spot after the opening round of the Forest Hills Invitational on Friday, April 24.

With a team score of 338, the Red Wolves lead St. Mary-of-the-Woods College (348), IU Kokomo (357) and Earlham College (385).

"We had some tough conditions on the course today, but the team battled pretty well," Red Wolf Sophia Curry said. "It was a fight all day, and I can't wait to keep it going tomorrow."

Curry along with her IU East teammates Maddie Campbell and Peityn Gillman all tied for first on the individual leaderboard with an 82 at the Forest Hills Country Club.

"The course played pretty tough today," Campbell said. "It was really hard to hit the greens. I had to do my best to make sure I was giving myself good angles around the green, if I didn't hit the green in two. I had a couple good par saves on the back nine, so that helped keep my score low."

The other scores for the Red Wolves were Lainey Jackson (85, 5th), Lauren Lacey (90, 11th), Jalyn Bruns (92, T14th), Ashlynne Osborn (92, T14th) and Reagan Brewer (92, T14th).

The final round of the event on Saturday gets underway with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
