Women's Soccer: Siena Heights at IU East preview

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East women's soccer team opens the 2023 season against Siena Heights University on Monday, Aug. 21.

The non-conference match at Centerville High School begins at 5 p.m.

IU East was 7-5-8 overall last season with a 5-1-4 mark in the River States Conference. The Red Wolves are 3-3 in season openers.

Siena Heights is 1-0 after winning 2-0 over the University of St. Francis on Thursday, Aug. 17.

Admission to home matches for IU East soccer is free.

The GPS address for Centerville High School is 507 Willow Grove Road in Centerville, Ind. The soccer field is in the southwest portion of the CHS campus, adjacent to the tennis courts and baseball field.

YOU OUGHT TO KNOW

* The Red Wolves and Seina Heights have never played in women's soccer.

* IU East was ranked fourth in the RSC women's soccer preseason poll behind IU Kokomo, Point Park University and Shawnee State University.

* McKenna Kleinrichert and Ava Wittrock are the top scorers back for IU East from 2022. Kleinrichert had four goals and one assist. Wittrock finished with three goals and three assists.

* Alyssa Fischer and Gia Diaz each scored a goal for the Saints in their season opening victory.

* Siena Heights was picked to finish fourth on the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference preseason poll. The Saints were 11-5-4 last fall with a 5-2-4 record in the WHAC.
