Outdoor Track: IU East at Asbury Invitational Recap

WILMORE, Ky. - The Indiana University East track and field teams had several school records established at the Asbury University Chick-Fil-A Invitational on Friday, April 10.

The women's team finished second out of nine squads, while the men finished in fifth.

Emilee Earl won four events and was second in another Asbury's Gray Outdoor Venue. Earl had IU East women's records in winning the pole vault (3.35 meters) and discus (40.90). She also won the shot put (12.09) and hammer (36.84), while getting second in the javelin (25.96).

Tristan Thomas set a new mark in the men's 100 meters as he won with a time of 10.67 seconds. Thomas also finished seventh in the 200 meters with a personal best at 22.32 seconds.

Layne Beard was the other winner for the men as he had the top distance in the men's hammer at 45.65 meters. Beard added a fifth place finish in the discus with an effort of 33.71 meters.

The Red Wolves also finished second in a pair of relays. Audrey Harper, Vanessa Temple, Esther George and Mackenzie Rohde had a time of 50.16 seconds in the 400-meter relay. In the 1,600-meter relay, Temple, George, Hunter Gardner and Rohde ran a 4:06.37.

The Red Wolves return to action at the Indiana Little State Championships at Indiana Wesleyan University on April 17-18.
