Outdoor Track: IU East Little State Day 1 Recap

MARION, Ind. - The Indiana University East track and field teams opened the 121st Little State Championships at Indiana Wesleyan University with a pair of victories and three school records on Friday, April 17.

Chloe Scales won the women's 10,000-meter run with a school record time of 39:35.27 on the Wildcat Track.

On the men's side of the 10,000-meter run, Richard Bower finished first with a 32:47.44.

The other two new school marks came in the 3,200-meter relay.

The women's group of Kayci Hill, Emily Fleming, Mylee Shatto and Hunter Gardner posted a time of 9:41.76 as they ended in sixth place. Hunter Allen, Akot Tong, Max Kline and Conner Walser finished seventh in the men's race with a time of 7:47.75.

Other IU East athletes to score in the meet by finishing in the top eight were:
Samantha Fowler (women's 10,000, sixth, 41:10.86)
Gabe Reynolds (men's 10,000, seventh, 33:39.20)
Vanessa Temple (women's javelin, eighth, 31.19m)

The meet resumes on Saturday with the field events and races on the track getting underway at 10 a.m.
