Outdoor Track: IU East at NAIA National Championships Day 1 Recap
ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Vanessa Temple set a school record for Indiana University East as she took part in the opening day of the 2026 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships on Wednesday, May 20.
Temple finished 24th in the semifinals of the women's 400-meter hurdles with the new IU East standard time of 1:02.84 at the Karl Straus Track on the University of North Carolina-Asheville campus. Temple qualified for nationals with a previous record time of 1:02.92 as she won the title at the River States Conference Championships on May 2.
Thomas Hogan was slated to run in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase semifinals on Wednesday, but due to weather conditions that race will now be on Thursday at 1:15 p.m.
Also on Thursday, May 21. Sarah Perry and Makenzee Kahn will be in the women's 5,000-meter race walk at 4:45 p.m., while Cameron Nocton and Alex Rost round out the day for the Red Wolves in the men's race walk at 5:15 p.m.
