Trailing early in the first set, the Red Wolves were able to go on a 5-0 run to take a 9-5 lead. Kills from Payton Schulthies, Barrett Matthews, Swimm, and Reece Shirley gave them the separation. The Grenadiers held another early lead, but like the first set, the Red Wolves were able to gain separation. Trailing 4-2, IUE went on an 8-2 run for the 10-6 lead. From that point on, the Red Wolves would lead the rest of the set as well.

Head coach Kim McConaha called a much-needed timeout as Lepper tallied two straight kills to tie the set at 24-24 that made the IU Southeast coach call a timeout.
