Women's Volleyball: Weekend Preview

RICHMOND, Ind. - The IU East women's volleyball team finishes the regular season this weekend with two River States Conference matches.

The Red Wolves start with a trip to Shawnee State University on Friday, Nov. 7. That contest in Waller Gymnasium is at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, IU East celebrates Senior Day against Kentucky Christian University as the match on Lingle Court begins at 1 p.m.

Winners of five in a row, IU East is 16-16 overall and 9-5 in the conference after a 25-19, 25-13, 25-21 victory at Midway University earlier this week.

Shawnee State has four straight victories as the Bears are 20-10 with a 9-5 mark in the league. The Bears beat Brescia University 17-25, 26-24, 25-15, 25-14 in Owensboro last weekend.

Kentucky Christian is 10-19 and 2-12 as the Lady Knights travel to face Midway on Friday.

* Ella Bickel and Carli Cox will be honored on IU East's Senior Day.

* Bickel is closing in on the all-time IU East record for digs. She needs 72 digs to catch Kristin Waechter, who had 2,372 for the Red Wolves from 2009-12.

* Shawnee State defeated IU East 22-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-12, 15-13 earlier this season.

* IU East is also playing Kentucky Christian for the second time as the Red Wolves won 20-25, 25-11, 25-16, 25-20 back on Sept. 27.

* Seeding for the upcoming RSC Championships will be finalized this weekend as the quarterfinals are set to begin on Tuesday, Nov. 11. The Red Wolves and Shawnee State are currently tied for second place in the RSC East Division.
