Women's Cross Country: Red Wolves finish third at RSC Championships
RIO GRANDE, Ohio - The Indiana University East women's cross country team finished third in the 2025 River States Conference Championships on Saturday, Nov. 8.
Ranked 21st in the nation, the University of Rio Grande won the title on its home course with 41 points to earn the RSC's bid to the national championship meet. Shawnee State University was next with 47 points, while the Red Wolves had 58. Both squads picked up votes in the latest national poll. At-large bids for nationals are scheduled to be announced on Nov. 11.
Amarissa Kerns of Rio Grande won the individual conference championship with a time of 22:32.67 in the 6K race that featured 90 participants.
Emily Fleming topped IU East with a time of 22:59.49 as she was sixth. Kayci Hill was seventh in 23:16.05. Both runners earned a place on the All-RSC First Team, while also qualifying for the national meet at the Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Florida on Friday, Nov. 21. Hill was honored as IU East's Champion of Character after the race. The top four finishers on non-qualifying teams can compete at nationals
IU East's Chloe Scales was an All-RSC Second Team performer with 23:25.77 to finish eighth as teammate Stella Cornelius was 18th in 24:20.16 to be on the All-RSC Third Team.
The other runners for IU East were Samantha Fowler (19th, 24:26.19), Sophie Harris (23rd, 24:47.07), Makenzee Kahn (27th, 25:09.72), Mylee Shatto (30th, 25:45.78), Aliecia Brooks (35th, 26:00.09), Hunter Gardner (39th, 26:08.70), Savanna Smith (43rd, 26:22.14), Casey Gifford (45th, 26:29.97), Sydney Fellers (53rd, 27:13.11), Sarah Perry (61st, 28:08.52), Alexis Dean (69th, 29:09.24) and Kendra Shipman (75th, 29:53.34)
